Ryan Harris and Mitchell Johnson helped Australia to register a tense 12-run win over New Zealand in the 2nd ODI in Auckland.
Ryan Harris and Mitchell Johnson clinched seven wickets between them to achieve the victory target for their nation. Chasing target of 266 from 45 overs, Australia wrapped up the New Zealand side in 43.2 overs .The last wicket partnership of Daniel Vettori and Tim Southee added 14 runs to take their total to 253.
Australia levelled the five-game series at one-all with Johnson pocketing 4 wickets for 51 runs and Harris grabbing 3-34 from 8.2 overs.
Skipper Ricky Ponting said,"I'm proud of the way the guys hung in there tonight. The game could have gone either way right towards the end. Our bowlers stuck to their guns stuck to their guns pretty well today.”
Mike Hussey proved to be the best Australian batsmen for the second successive match, hitting 56 in a total of 7-273.Hussey had a 101-run partnership stand with Cameron White after Australia had slumped to 4-116 in the 24th over. The third ODI will be played in Hamilton on Tuesday.

After India's humiliating losses to Australia and Spain in the Hockey World Cup 2010, an Indian fan said, "Indian players spent all energy, aggression and stamina during the 4-1 victory against Pakistan in the opening match. Now they have nothing to give". Bitter truth, but well said.
If you ha [India Hockey World Cup 2010] ve seen India playing yesterday, you will admit that they kept attacking Spain throughout the game, but failed to penetrate into their strong defence. On the other hand, Spain scored goals without much resistance from the goalkeeper and India's defence.
Spain converted half-chances into goals, much to the surprise of the fans and experts. Even though India dominated the proceedings in the second half, Spain scored three goals, against India's two goals.
The end result 5-2 speaks much about India's poor defence. Certainly, they don't deserve a place in the semifinals, when teams like England, Australia, Netherlands, Spain and South Korea are playing above expectations.
As Indians, we may be disappointed to see our team losing. But if we thing about the game, strategy and defence, there will be no denying that we may end up at No. 5 - 8 in the tournament. Certainly, the top four spots are out of our reach now.

India's hopes of making it to the semifinals of the Hero Honda FIH Hockey World Cup 2010 were dashed, as Spain beat India 5-2 in a crucial Pool B match at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium in New Delhi.
Spain played [Spain beat India 5-2] attacking hockey throughout the match and their defence was very solid. Although India fought back hard in the second half, they failed to convert at least four penalty corners.
The Spanish strikers were brilliant and Indian defence looked fragile, resulting in many field goals in favour of Spain.
Spain was leading 2-0 at the half time. For Spain, Pau Quemada scored two goals, while Albert Sala, Pol Amat and Ramon Alegre scored one goal each. ForIndia, Sandeep Singh and Gurwinder Singh Chandi scored the goals.
Team India had begun their Hockey World Cup campaign with a 4-1 victory over arch-rival Pakistan. However, the lost the momentum completely and went down to Australia and Spain by identical margins 2-5.
With this loss, India is virtually out of the semifinal race in the Hockey World Cup 2010. While England and Australia top leaders from the Pool B, Spain also stays in contention with two wins from three matches.

Simmons is Daredevils' assistant coach New Delhi, March 4 : India bowling coach Eric Simmons has been appointed Delhi Daredevils' assistant coach ahead of the third edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), beginning March 12.
Simmons, who will be assisting chief coach Greg Shipperd, will join the squad Monday.
"Simmons' experience will help the youngsters in the side," said Amrit Mathur, chief operating officer of the Delhi Daredevils.
Simmons, a former South Africa coach, said he is looking forward to working with the Daredevils.
"I have heard a lot about the Daredevils and I have also seen some of them at close quarters while working with the Indian team. It will be a great experience to work with them," said Simmons.
Simmons, 47, was appointed bowling consultant of the Indian team for the Test series against Bangladesh and the Test and ODI series against South Africa.(IANS)

Sachin and Anjali Tendulkar were preparing to celebrate their daughter Sarah’s birthday last October when she bowled a googly to her dad. Today, he admits that it is one of his greatest lessons off-the-pitch.“We were preparing to celebrate her (Sarah’s) birthday when she said that she doesn’t want a party at home. We were a little surprised. She wanted to have a party at (the slums of) Govandi and wanted to share the goodies with the (slum) children there. We felt really proud when my daughter said this,” says Sachin even as Anjali nods her head in approval. As usual Anjali had decided that it was only Sachin who will do the talking.
“My daughter made me think. I thought that everybody donates money but it is a greater gift to donate your time. That is why I decided to auction a half-day’s coaching camp with the kids (on eBay on behalf of an NGO). It was my daughter Sarah who inspired me to do charity,” candidly admits Sachin explaining how he decided to donate his time than the ‘much easier option of donating just money’.
When asked about son Arjun, both Sachin and Anjali’s faces light up. After a quick glance towards his wife, the Master Blaster admits that though he often talks about cricket with his son, his recent knock of 200 ODI runs has remained out of their discussions.
“We (Sachin and Arjun) keep talking about cricket all the time. But I never spoke about my knock (of 200 runs against South Africa) with him. But I definitely spoke about it with Anjali. My mom also watched the entire match. In fact, I was very happy about the way my near and dear ones reacted when I came back home. They were elated. They (his family) have made huge sacrifices for me and I always thank them for that. That is why it (the success) was worth sharing with them,” Sachin adds.
When we asked his comment on the Sachin Tendulkar museum, he says, “It is news to me (that a special museum is being set up with his belongings and his used cricket gears). I haven’t received any official intimation about it. But it sounds good to me.”
Recently after the Indian hockey team won their first match of the ongoing World Cup against Pakistan, a particular state government announced rewards only for the goal scorers. Sachin feels that though a couple of players only bring glory to the country on a given day, it is the team effort that wins the day.
“Everyone should be credited if the team wins. It is true that on a given day, two or three players will shine than the rest and I am not taking away any credit from them. But without the team playing as a unit, they can’t shine. So, I feel when a team wins the credit it should go to the entire team including the reserve players and the support staff. They have worked in every possible way to ensure that the team wins,” he ends.
