Maria Sharapova Out Of Action For Six Weeks
Maria Sharapova will be out of action for six weeks as she has sustained an elbow injury. The announcement came from organisers of Sony Ericsson Open that is commencing next week. The three-times grand slam champion was gearing up for the event Key Biscayne, Miami but a bone bruise on her elbow was revealed by an MRI scan. Organisers said in a statement that the Russian, was expected to miss three-to-six weeks of competition. She had earlier emerged winner in Memphis this year but was ousted at Indian Wells on Sunday, The others who have withdrawn from the Miami event include world number two Dinara Safina and 2008 Sony Ericsson men's champion Nikolay Davydenko. Russian Safina is nursing a back injury while Davydenko has sustained a fracture in his left wrist.
